We urge the international community to address the dire humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza as a result of the recent Israeli escalation, which has reached catastrophic proportions, disregarding all human rights agreements, drawning Palestinians in severe consequences.
Background:
Since the beginning of the Israeli agression on Gaza on the 7th of October 2023, the Strip witnessed intense shelling and bombing, resulting in widespread systematic destruction of residential areas, economic and civic infrastructures and facilities. The impact on the civilians was fatal with more than 5000 casualties until this very moment. The shelling is particularly targeting densely populated areas, exacerbating the suffering of the already agonized innocent civilians.
Current status:
The Israeli government decided to cease the provision of water, electricity and food, which is maximizing the severeness of the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The cessation of these essential resources has led to individuals struggling to access even the most basic necessities of life, especially in light of the ngoing hostilities that are severely hampering rescue and relief efforts, making it difficult to deliver essential supplies and medical care for those in need, leaving vulnerable civilians in total fragility and despair.
These acts constitute collective punishment of the civilian population and serve as compelling evidence of war crimes and genocide indicators in Gaza. They also violate Israel’s obligations under the laws of war. This situation demands the immediate implementation of the Responsibility to Protect (RtoP) principles and International humanitarian law rules.
Casualties:
The death toll for Palestinians has tragically exceeded 700- mostly women and children, with more than 5 thousand other injuries in need of unavailable urgent medical care due to the intentional bombing of several medical institutions in the Strip. The streets are overwhelmed by hauntinsights as lifeless bodies lay strewn about, a truly shocking and devastating scene.
Latest developments:
Humanitarian Aid: Gazans are in desperate need of immediate humanitarian assistance, including food, clean water, medical care and shelter for the displaced. The ongoing violence has left thousands of families without access to basic human needs, increasing the risk of malnutrition, waterborne diseases and other health problems.
Infrastructure support: The destruction of critical infrastructure, such as roads and energy supplies, has exacerbated the crisis. Urgent assistance is needed to rebuild and restore these essential lifelines, ensure the delivery of aid, and enable affected populations to regain a semblance of normalcy.
Psycho-emotional support: The trauma experienced by Palestinians, especially children, is beyond measurement. Witnessing the murder of loved ones and the destruction of homes leave dangerous scars, which require urgent psycho-emotional attention to aid in the healing process.
Long-term recovery and reconstruction aid: The severe damage in Gaza requires a firm commitment to long-term support aimed at reconstruction and rehabilitation. What is required at this moment is not only restoring what was destroyed, but also ensuring the resilience and prosperity of affected communities, in a quest to address the root causes of the ongoing crisis.
Given the gravity of the humanitarian situation during Israel’s attack on Gaza, we urge the international community to take immediate action to provide emergency relief, support recovery efforts, and address the long-term needs of the affected population. The dire situation in Gaza requires urgent action and a shared responsibility to ease the suffering and find a fair and lasting solution to end the Israeli occupation on the Palestinian lands.

A Solemn Appeal to the International Community:
In the wake of the grave humanitarian crisis caused by Israel, we make a serious and solemn appeal to the international community, including entities such as the United Nations, influential regional organizations, sovereign member states, the private sector and civil society, among others to stop the massive destruction of Gaza.
The urgency of our appeal:
In light of the Israeli government’s flagrant disregard for international agreements and violations of human rights agreements, it is imperative that appropriate action be taken. The egregious behavior demonstrated by the government of Israel calls for prompt and decisive measures to uphold the principles of justice and accountability, and to preserve the integrity of global human rights. It is the duty of responsible stakeholders to stand up against such unethical actions and demand the necessary redress in order to ensure that these transgressions are not allowed to go unchecked.
At this critical juncture, we urge you to respond to our appeal for help, which is twofold: first, to raise awareness, and second, to mobilize resources. We appeal to you to help us spread our urgent message through your vast international network, which includes organizations, governments and individuals with the capacity to provide the indispensable assistance and resources needed to mitigate further loss of life and alleviate the profound suffering of the people affected by Israel’s aggression on Gaza.
